Book Introduction:
After more than two years of research, the Taiwan Association for Learning Disabilities, in collaboration with experts, scholars, and teachers, co-authored the book "Overcoming Mathematics Learning Difficulties: Theory and Practice." This book discusses the causes of mathematics learning difficulties from various perspectives, including neurology, cognitive psychology, linguistics, and sociology. Through early mathematics ability assessment, later-age mathematics disability identification, and curriculum-based assessment systems, it helps readers understand the mathematical abilities and performance of students at different ages. Finally, it uses real-life case studies to illustrate the different characteristics of students with mathematics learning difficulties and corresponding intervention methods.
This book offers diverse and comprehensive perspectives for teachers instructing students with mathematical learning difficulties, parents of children with mathematical learning disabilities, and even individuals with mathematical learning difficulties or disabilities. It provides insights into mathematical learning challenges and potential solutions or intervention methods. This book is suitable for undergraduate and graduate students, teachers engaged in remedial teaching, university instructors of courses on learning disabilities, and parents. It is one of the few books in Taiwan that delves deeply into mathematical learning disabilities and difficulties.
